Family Fun

I am enjoying going through some photos and looking back on the break over Christmas. Definitely a 'break' in the sense of a change in the usual happenings of life, and not a break in the restful sense.....for some reason I seem to be waking up feeling tired most mornings, lol.

I agreed to have an early family Christmas 'do' at our house with grandparents, aunty and uncle and cousins.....10 kids in all. I was loving all the silver and purple around so we went with that theme. I slowly gathered a few bits and pieces together with the idea of setting a separate kids table (rather than the usual kids and cousins munching on the floor!)

I spotted some butchers paper on my travels and remembered seeing tables set at cafes for kids with pencils or crayons to decorate with.

With alot of help from my Miss 12 we stuck down the paper, blew up some balloons to create a centrepiece and set the places. The tag on the crayon cups says "have a colourful Christmas".

This is the 'grown ups' table. Lots of fun setting up, with coffee bags and choccies under the place cards. The kids had a choccy and a glow stick.

I also had a go at making our own Christmas crackers with some more 'useful' treats inside from Officeworks and yummy lollies.....sorry, didn't quite get to taking the 'before' shots.

This silver cracker was from foil paper - note to self.....don't use that again. The foil just doesn't have the tear factor going for it, as pretty as it looks. I found the instructions here and some great Christmas cracker jokes here through google (already in pdf and nicely formatted).....I was part way through putting the crackers together and thought nice idea, but I must be crazy!

I have managed to do a bit of sewing during the holiday break so far. I had bought some nice firm foam (a couple of months ago....hmm, hmm) to replace the old worn one from about 25 years ago. It was so nice to get the cover sewn up for it.

This stitchery was completed a little while ago and even the borders sewn on.

So I finally sat down and did the backing and binding.....now hanging in my laundry to brighten it up a bit.

These are some pictures from December 2011 - a bit of family fun in the water.

I am so looking forward to doing a bit of this in the holidays. We've been able to borrow the boat from a good friend - such a blessing to have some time out together.

We did go to the dam a couple of days ago and Miss 12 had a few short stints up on skis and my Master 11 did well later in the afternoon by popping straight up and having a few long skis - they make it look so easy. So great to see them having fun!

Happy New Year to you and I hope that you have a blessed and wonderful year ahead....and can have some creative time too.
