Birthdays, Easter...& just a bit of Quilting

This is just a little bit belated, but still wanted to share it with you....there's a few pics, so you might want to grab a cuppa.

Our Miss 13 had her birthday party towards the end of February. She chose the local waterslide for a bit of fun. I thought I'd have a go at putting some 'girly' party bags together for them.

Here they are laid out on the table with a few goodies to pop in...shower caps, bath scrubs, tissues, elastics, mini nail files, some funky highlighters and pens from Officeworks and of course a couple of lollies.

We lined the bags with tissue paper and popped them closed with some mini pegs I had at home.

The weather was very uncertain over the weekend but by party time on Sunday afternoon it was all good.
We were very blessed with a gorgeous afternoon.
I even had a few goes down the help my younger two cherubs, of course!  All the high school memories came flooding back, lol.....

I had a go at a different recipe for a mudcake I found on here. So delish....definitely will make this one again. I cheated on the decorations due to a very full weekend. So Betty Crocker to the rescue with her yummo icing frosting and some pre-made iced flowers.

This Easter I thought I'd try a countdown to Easter. I had seen this last year in a couple of places but was a bit late in getting it all together. I was inspired by this post from Kelly at

On the blog there was a link to a list of what you could put inside each egg and the Bible verse to go with it here. There are many different versions of this, but this worked for our family this year. It was fun going through this and learning together each day.

As this is supposed to be a quilting blog, I should share some of that with you too...although a little uneventful at the moment.

Over the Easter weekend I finally pulled out the few rows I had sewn for the quilts for my two boys. They are growing up fast and soon won't want prints of motorbikes, planes and trains on their bed!

I cut a few more squares and finished all the rows on both quilts....and today was working on putting together the sashing. So they are coming together....all in good time :)
Sorry about the blurry a hurry....but you get the idea.

  1. Sounds like a beautiful Easter.

  2. You have been a busy girl :)
Lovely ideas and the quilts are gorgeous :)

Thanks for your comment. I read and appreciate every one and love the inspiration from your blogs too. Happy stitching!
